These 3D printed tank vent inserts are designed specifically for the Thrive Tropical Reptile Terrarium Essentials Kit – 30 Gallon (18" × 18" × 24"). These are accessories for the original tank vents and are not replacement lids.
They are designed to fit directly over the factory vent openings and are available in either fine mesh or solid versions.
🪴 Terrarium not included.
Two installation locations are available:
Inner Set – Attaches to the vent from inside the terrarium.
Outer Set – Attaches to the vent from outside the terrarium.
Each set includes two pieces, with each piece covering approximately half of the vent opening.
The inner and outer sets can be used independently or together, depending on your needs.
If you're only purchasing one set, we recommend the Inner Set.
Since it mounts on the inside of the enclosure, it prevents fruit flies from escaping through the factory vent openings. If only the Outer Set is installed, fruit flies may still be able to enter the space behind the insert through the larger openings in the factory vent, where they can become trapped or continue moving around.
Many customers choose to install both the Inner and Outer Sets. This provides the best combination of:
Improved fruit fly containment
A cleaner, more finished appearance
Protection on both sides of the factory vent
Our Mesh version features a fine 3D-printed screen that:
Won't rust or corrode
Prevents fruit flies and gnats from escaping
Is safe for tarantulas, frogs, and other small animals (no toe-catching)
Alternatively, our Solid version completely blocks airflow through the factory vent, making it ideal for enclosures that require higher humidity.
